Inter-Roller seen rolling along just fine

(2005-03-28)

INTER-ROLLER Engineering is on a roll, judging by a thick order book that is expected to get even thicker.

The international engineering and systems automation company, whose core business is in airport logistics, ended the year 2004 with an order book standing at $60 million.

Recently, it won a contract from the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore for the upcoming low-cost carrier airport in Singapore.

It has also clinched a deal with the Hong Kong International Airport.

Inter-Roller chief executive officer Lim Yee Min said that the two projects secured another $10 million to $11 million for the company.

It is also common knowledge that Inter-Roller is currently in negotiation with the Dubai airport authorities, having secured a letter of intent for a $150 million project following a previous, smaller contract with the airport.

Mr Lim told BT: 'We expect announcements about this soon - positive announcements.'

Broking house DBS Vickers Securities expects the company, which is tendering for projects worth over $200 million in China, the Middle East and South-east Asia, to 'stand a good chance of winning a good chunk of these projects due to its cost competitiveness'.

Counterpart GK Goh shares a similar view, saying that the company is likely to win more 'mega-projects'.

Mr Lim also told BT that Inter-Roller is now establishing a new office in China. 'We will be incorporating the company in China within a few weeks,' he added. 'We are extremely busy now.'
